Project Overview
The brief for Villa Strava is to create a new five-bedroom family home packed with features, including a high-spec fitness suite, cinema, formal living and dining areas, flexible family spaces, a dedicated office, and an oversized garage/workshop.
We drew inspiration from the mid-twentieth-century pavilion style, influenced by architects like Richard Neutra, Philip Johnson, and Mies van der Rohe, for its simplicity and connection to the landscape.
Set in a rural spot on the edge of a village south of Doncaster, we faced the challenge of designing a substantial home that is contemporary but also works with its setting.
We've designed and orientated Villa Strava to maximise natural daylight and ensure that all the main rooms, including each family bedroom, have views over the garden and the open countryside beyond. This approach enhances the home's openness and strengthens its connection to the surrounding landscape.
